“You are my fantasy on a cold dark night, my muse during the light of day and the one wish my soul would make”
Grace Willows

A muse is a woman or a force that’s personified as a woman and who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist, or in my case a portrait and glamour photographer.

According to the Associated Press, 4.5 million Americans quit their jobs in November and in 2021 close to 50 million people quit their jobs. Colorado, it seems, lead the nation in the number of resignations. Let me put that into perspective: California is America’s most populace state and it has 39.1 million people. Yet many more than that have quit their jobs just last year. Why?

While some (many?) of those 50 million may have moved on to better paying jobs, others have struck out on their own, doing jobs they enjoy and being their own bosses. One of the jobs where you can make money, set you own hours, decide how and with whom to work is as an online model.

How about you? When testing cameras, lenses and lighting equipment, I need female models who who would like to pose for the kind of photographs you see scattered throughout this blog. To accomplish that goal, I’m looking for models for these projects and with my new emphasis on film photography I’m especially interested in finding a new muse.

I prefer working with women from ages 21-45 and no experience is necessary. I’ll be making these photographs to illustrate how-to posts as well as camera, lens and even film reviews.

All shoots will be on a TFP basis but for assignments created for print or corporate media I’ll pay the model an hourly rate based on the her experience. Sessions typically run two hours and are scheduled during the day Monday through Friday in my home studio located near Parker, Colorado. Saturday morning sessions are possible for an exceptional model. Except for film shoots where we have to wait for processing, the model will leave the session with their choice of a flash drive or CD containing all of the photographs we make together. Images from the film shoots will be shipped within two week, No matter how the model receives the image files, the photos can be used anyway that the model chooses including sales, Patreon, Bentbox, OnlyFans or other on-line options,

If you have a friend, spouse or significant other or maybe yourself who would like to be my new muse, please contact me through the Contact page or e-mail me at joefarace at gmail dot com to schedule a test shoot.

How I made this portrait: I have been fortunate at several points in my life to have had a muse that worked with and inspired me. One of the first and the most influential in my photography was Tia Stoneman who is featured today. She was not a model and didn’t fit any of the typical stereotypes of models but was an actress and a real, living, breathing woman. She was always willing to play many roles in front of my camera and I worked with her through many years, photographing her pregnant with he first child, with that baby after he was born and through a second pregnancy. She was always wonderful to work with and I miss photographing her to this very day. For this portrait, I photographed Tia near the foyer of my former home using only available light from a window in the front door to the house with fill light from a Canon 550EX speedlight. The camera used was a Canon EOS 1D Mark II N with my go-to portrait lens the EF 85mm f/1.8. Exposure was 1/60 sec at f/ 3.2 and ISO 320.
