Today’s Post by Joe Farace
“All of us need to be in touch with a mysterious, tantalizing source of inspiration that teases our sense of wonder and goads us on to life’s next adventure.” ―
Lingerie is a category of women’s clothing that includes undergarments, sleepwear and lightweight robesht. The word implies that the garments are alluring and fashionable. Lingerie can be made of lightweight, stretchy, smooth, sheer or decorative fabrics such as silk, satin, Lycra, charmeuse, chiffon, or lace.
About the Models
Many different models are featured in this series. Some my never have appeared or may be under represented on this blog because of the number of shoots I had with them.
Others, like the incomparable Erin Valakari, have appeared many times. She’s an artist, model and cosplayer, who was originally from Texas and now lives in Colorado. Ering is a sweet and lovely model who is totally professional in her work ethic. What’s more, she’s stylish, talented and sexy. In short, the perfect muse. You can follow her on Instagram at @valatheartist.
How I Made this Portrait: This portrait of Erin Valakari was made in my 11×15-foot home studio using a Paul C. Buff DigiBee DB800 with a Plume Ltd hexagonal Wafer soft box that was placed at camera right. An Alien Bee B800 with a 18-inch Paul C Buff OMNI reflector that had a triple layer diffuser sock in lace, is at camera left while another Digibee with a 48-inch Dynalite Quad Square black/silver umbrella was placed in a back left corner of my studio. The background was a simple, inexpensive muslin background suspended from JTL background stands.
The camera used was a Panasonic Lumix GH4 with a used Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 lens (at 42mm) that I purchased on eBay from a camera store in Japan. The exposure was 1/125 sec at f/10 and ISO 200. Image was color balanced with PictoColor’s iCorrect Portrait plug-in, retouched using my standard retouching techniques and tweaked using the Vivenza filter.
Special Note: I would like to keep the #seethrough series alive throughout 2023. To do that I’m looking for women who interested in posing wearing see-through clothing or lingerie for this series. After signing a simple model release, they will receive their choice of a CD or flash drive containing all the approx 200 photographs we’ll make to take home the day of the shoot. The model will also receive full rights to use the images however they like. If you’re interested, click CONTACT and let’s talk.
