Today’s Post by Joe Farace

“I keep turning over new leaves, and spoiling them, as I used to spoil my copybooks; and I make so many beginnings there never will be an end.”― Louisa May Alcott

In my post What My Studio Photography Future Holds, I said that “If I don’t use the (my home) studio to photograph, at least, a few models before a certain point in time—I was thinking Labor Day— I was going to knock down all of the lighting and studio equipment, tuck it away and turn that space into…something else.”

Flash forward: Sometime before Labor Day, an old client for whom I had worked on maybe the best, most creative and most fun project that I was ever involved in asked me to hold of until November 1. Well that day is fast approaching and while I may not be running down the steps to my basement home studio in a few minutes and start dismantling the gear—although I may do that—it will begin sometime this coming week, unless…

Model photography in my studio takes two people—a model and a photographer. Based on my recent unsuccessful experience trying to find Colorado-based models for a client, even with the client offering them a $200/hour rate, we were not able to find a sufficient number of models for the project. For my own personal projects,  I’ve been researching local models as I write this post, and sending e-mails asking if they would be interested in a TF shoot. In the pat months, I sent out eleven emails asking if any of these models would be interested in shooting together and as of today, I have received no responses. But…

…if any Colorado-based or visiting model does contact me—and please do if you are interested, I will happily work with her to create the best possible and most beautiful images for her personal use, portfolio or on-line presence. If that describes you please click CONTACT and let’s talk, After Halloween for any portrait or glamour photography that I do, I’ll shoot on-location— if I can find any models to photograph, that is.

Today also brings to an end any future blog posts about glamour or boudoir photography, although, from time to time, I might tackle the subject of traditional portrait photography. I would be less than ingenuous if I didn’t admit that this reality makes me unhappy. I love photographing glamour models in my studio; I love playing with the lighting equipment to create great looks. And it is/was play for me. It was a wonderful creative outlet and I will dearly miss shooting these kinds of image. But all of the hundreds of posts that I did write about working in the studio will still be available here on line. Just use the search—the little magnifying glass icon in the upper right—and plug in your favorite search term whether it’s glamour or boudoir photography, you’ll get plenty of results that will provide lots of information.

And on a personal note: While I may not be posting any more stories about glamour or boudoir photography, I will keep putting these little postscripts at the bottom of posts in case anyone would like to buy one of my books on these very topics. Your purchase on Amazon does not cost you any extra and while any commissions are literally pennies, it is one of my few sources of income at this time. So if you purchase any of these books you have my gratitude.

If you’re interested in learning how I shoot available light glamour portraits, please pick up a copy of my book Available Light Glamour Photography and right now Amazon is reporting it as “Temporarily out of stock.” Used copies are available for around twenty-five bucks, as I write this, and Kindle copies are available for $27.12 for those preferring a digital format.
