Studio Thursday: And Yet Another Popular Model from my Modeling Site

Today’s Post by Joe Farace

When I looked at my on-line modeling portfolio I was surprised to find that several of my photographs had exceeded one thousand views. To some, that may not seem like a big number to some but, to me, it’s a lot. And so, for the past several #studiothursday posts, I’ve been featuring some of these models.

The featured photograph is not the actual image that got all of the views, because most of them would be too intense for social media censors. Instead, I’ll pick a similar image from the shoot that I did with the model that has the essence of the “most viewed” photograph without any censorship baggage. The rest of the images in the portfolio, including today’s featured portrait, have fewer than 1000 views, so I may be continuing this series for one more week or not,

About the model:

Kelly is a charming young model who I only got to photograph twice. She is a sweet wonderful young woman who, like some of the other models you’ve seen in this series, I’m hoping to photograph again at some time in the future. This photograph is another image from the same series that produced the portfolio photographs that had 884 view, 11 comments and was added to two lists. One commenter had this to say about the original and similar photograph: “Gorgeous and natural… love it!”

The featured image is from our first shoot together. During our second shoot, one of the sessions included her posing with Erin Valakari* in one of my most interesting and challenging model shoots I’ve ever had with both technical problems and aesthetic challenges but the models seemed to enjoy it and some of the images are simply amazing.

About the Portrait:

The technical details for Kelly’s glamour portrait is as follows: It starts with the custom-made Carbonite muslin backdrop from Silverlake Photo Accessories that was suspended on my JTL background stands. The main light was provided by a Paul C Buff DigiBee DB800 that had a 52x38x14-inch Plume Wafer Hexoval softbox mounted and was placed at camera right. A second DigiBee DB800 with Buff’s (no longer available) 18-inch OMNI reflector was at camera left and placed slightly behind the subject. The camera used was a Panasonic Lumix GH4 with G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 lens at 45mm with an exposure of 1/125 sec and f/9 and ISO 200.

*Postscript: Some of the images from the session with Kelly and Erin would cause spontaneous combustion in all the nanny software’s office around the word, so you will never get to see them here. I hope someday I’ll have access to an on-line forum where I can display some of those kinds of photographs. Right now, I’m talking to my Webmaster about creating one in 2023.
