Today’s post is a reminder In case you missed my original post, Special News about Some Special Posts, that has information about some of the new benefits for my Patreon subscribers. More details are below…
Today’s Special Post by Joe Farace
Censorship reflects a society’s lack of confidence in itself. —Potter Stewart, associate justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1958 to 1981.
I started a new series of uncensored ports about working with certain models who I’ve enjoyed photographing over the years, Beginning on April 24, these posts were typically uploaded on Thursdays and are displayed on the main page and marked as “Password Protected” or maybe just “Protected” because WordPress keeps changing how it handles these kinds of posts.
What Does Password Protected Mean?
What this means for you is that for the first time—and this shows up first in a post about working with the dynamic model Alice Ivers—I will take you “behind the pages” about some of my experiences that occurred during the heyday of print magazines. These days in the USA, however, few photographic print magazines survived. Those that do are limited to some fine art quarterlies along with a few produced by organizations whose member’s dues subsidize the publication. Some of these insights in these posts may provide a look into why, while England and Japan support a vibrant and wide variety of print photo magazines, the US does not.
The biggest change in the content of these posts is for the first time in this blog’s history, you will be able to see completely uncensored photographs of many different models that I’ve worked with. This will include some opinions about why images of these women were censored in the first place (and by whom) along with some insights into what working with these talented models was like. I think you’ll find a surprise or two.
In order to be see the content of these Password Protected posts, photographers who are members of the second ($2/50/month) or third tier ($5/month) of my Patreon will receive a unique password allowing them access the posts and see the uncensored images and protected posts. If you are not currently a subscriber, sign up now to get access to all of the past and future protected posts. If this program is somewhat successful, at some time in the future, I plan to include galleries where subscribers will be able to view several images of the models from the shoot that are documented in the post. It all depends on how well the response is to these posts. Keep in mind that Patreon subscriptions may be canceled at any time so if you don’t like these posts, you may quit at any time and your unique password will be disabled.
If nobody signs up to my Patreon’s top two tiers during the next several months, my original plans were to stop uploading Password Protected posts but I’ve changed my mind because I have enjoyed writing these posts and finding images for them. Even if nobody subscribes I’ll probably (key word) keep going until I get bored. If I have just one subscriber, I’ll keep writing for them as long as they are members. Either way, I want to thank you for all of your support over the years.
