Today’s Post by Joe Farace
National Bombshells’ Day is celebrated each year on the first Saturday in May and encourages women to celebrate themselves and their best friends.
Not surprisingly, it was Victoria’s Secret that established National Bombshells’ Day in 2015 to celebrate women and their best friends. Being a Bombshell means many things to Victoria’s Secret and they “would like our customers and fans to celebrate being Bombshells on this day.”

How I Made this Portrait: I’m are always looking for interesting locations to make glamour images, so when calendar company asked me to photograph models in a fire truck factory, how could I say no? All of the shoots were made with the permission of the company’s owners and were held on Sundays when no workers would be present. However, there were environmental challenges since we were shooting inside a large hangar-like structure that was warmed with the type of radiant heat that keeps the trucks comfy but not necessarily the models.
The model in the featured images was Dusty who is the same woman that’s featured in my post, My Favorite Portrait. The camera used was a Canon 50D along with with my go-to portrait lens, the EF 85mm f/1.8. Lighting was mostly available light with an off-camera Canon speedlite used for fill. The lights on the fire truck were turned on and were sequentially flashing off and during the time we were shooting this pose making the lighting and exposure for each pose slightly different. Exposure for the above image was 1/90 sec at f/2 and ISO 400. The RAW file was retouched in Photoshop and tweaked with Color Efex.
