Film Friday: I’m Capturing Panoramas
I don’t think it was a Christmas present, but once upon a time my old pal Jason gave me a Russian-made Horizon 202 rotating lens panoramic camera as a gift. The Horizon is an all-mechanical camera, no batteries included, no batteries needed.
Thursday Vibes: Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 Macro O.I.S. Lens
If you purchase one of Panasonic’s full frame cameras, like the Lumix S1R, chances are you’ll be able to get it with the Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 Macro OIS lens as a kit, so typically the package a good deal.
Wheels Wednesday: I’ve Stopped Worrying and Love Auto ISO
My friend Mark Toal is a big fan of the Auto ISO setting that’s found on most DSLRs and mirrorless cameras but up until recently I was not. I even wrote a post about why I didn’t like this feature. But since that original post I’ve changed my mind, mostly because of the efficient way that modern cameras handle noise.
Sigma’s 16mm 1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens

The next lens that was added to my Nikon system was one I’d longingly pressed my nose against the window of Ritz Camera’s Baltimore Street store, the Sigma 16mm f/2.8 with built-in filters. I loved that lens and here we are all these years later and I’m looking at another Sigma 16mm lens…
Photographing “Las Manos de la Hermandad”
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I am not a deeply religious person but I do believe in a higher power. The last time was in Acapulco, Mexico and visited La Capilla de la Paz (The Chapel of Peace) it was a spiritually moving experience, So I thought I would share some of my thoughts on this special place today.
Filter Basics: The Case for Modular Filters
Back in the film days, camera manufacturers tried to standardize on a single filter size for most of their lenses but that seems to be no longer the case. These days it seems to be more of a filter smorgasbord.
