Today’s Post by Joe Farace

It’s been my experience that when shooting motorsports, you can never have two many lenses on hand. Action can change quickly as you walk around a road course or a really big track like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca where today’s featured image was made. One minute you’ll need a long telephoto and the next you need to grab a wide angle lens to catch closer-up track action.

How I Made this Shot: Camera was a Canon EOS Digital Rebel with Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens at 400mm. Exposure was 1/500 sec at f/14 and ISO 200.

Here’s something that, I think, will come in handy on your net day at the track: OP/TECH USA’s  Double Lens Mount Cap is a simple device that lets you to securely lock two lenses together. This can a big space saver, because it lets a photographer keep some of their gear protected in a compact fashion. the Double Lens Mount Cap is designed with an O-ring seal that creates a positive contact with the full perimeter of the lens mount to lock out dust and moisture. It also offers a tighter friction fit over traditional caps that typically come with a lens, providing better protection to the lens mount, all of which ensures that the cap is securely held in place while in storage or transit.

The Lens Mount Cap is available in single or double versions in several lens models for both DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Using the Double Lens Mount Cap on a single lens, you should be able to change lenses faster than eve.! Remove the lens from your camera and immediately apply it to the open end of the double Lens Mount Cap. Then simply remove the other lens and put it on the camera. Less time with the lens mount open to the elements means your camera’s sensor stays clean and delivers cleaner dust free photographs. This translates in less time in Photoshop using the Clone Stamp and Healing Brush!
