Be sure to read tomorrow’s Joe’s Book Club. This series of posts appears bi-weekly on every other Saturday. Tomorrow I’ll be reviewing a few new books and talking about some classic books that were made in equally classic movies.
Today’s Post by Joe Farace
“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” ―
Books are an inexpensive entertainment, educational tool and can be a time machine too! Don’t keep this bit of wisdom to yourself. Share the experience! with others Read aloud to your children or to your grandparents. Some have even suggested that you read to your pets or your stuffed animals and plants but I think they prefer they listen to KVOD in those cases.
Many studies have shown that reading improves a person’s memory and concentration as well as reducing stress. Older adults who spend time reading tend to show a slower cognitive decline and tend to participate in more mentally stimulating activities over their lifetime.
Sit back, relax and read a book.
Share the books and stories you’re reading by using the #ReadABookDay hashtag to post on social media. Visit the library or a local book store, which in my case is Books Are Awesome. Whether you prefer to escape into the world of fiction or learn something new from a non-fiction book, celebrate the day with your favorite books. I never had a favorite book until I read Stephen King’s 11/22/63. for the first time. (I’ve read it three times, so far.) I’m not a King fanboy having read only two of his other books including The Dead Zone and Mr. Mercedes but after reading a library copy of 11/22/63, I rushed out and bought my own copy so I could read it again. And then I read it yer again not too long ago. The Hulu TV series that is supposed to based on the book? Don’t waste your time.
How Mary Farace Made this Photograph: Mary photographed me reading a library book at Starbucks with a cup of tea nearby. Instead of the Nikon Zfc she usually uses for portraits of me, this one was made with her iPhone. I don’t know which one.
