Special Post Today

“Photography can transcend time and distance. It goes beyond censorship, frontiers, borders, and removes the blinders of xenophobia. Photography so easily interprets complex things, ideas, and concepts. Photography is the next best thing to being there.”—Lou Jones

From Lou Jones:

“We are launching another crowdfunding campaign with INDIEGOGO and with it we are returning to UGANDA this time and publishing the second volume of the next panAFRICAproject book which is at the designer stage now. If you want to help go to https://igg.me/at/panafricaproject to see the video and get all the information about this project.”

“The MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT of EDUCATION has begun using my modern photographs for school curriculum and I just received a MASSACHUSETTS CULTURAL COUNCIL grant but the project continues to grow and the costs continue to mount.”

The panAFRICAproject mission is multifold…

…to create a photographic portrait that is true to the multi-faceted identity of Africa, as one continent and also as 54 individual countries; to provide an on-going and up-to-date visual “scrapbook” of Africa at the beginning of the 21st century, celebrating its progress, development, human potential and enormous contributions to the world; to fill the desperate need for comprehensive imagery that will communicate the complexity of Africa to economic, political, academic and cultural institutions; to disseminate these images using both traditional and accelerated technologies for communication; to deconstruct the stereotypes created by western media by conducting an in-depth investigation of the African experience; to make photography a major fulcrum of dialogue and communication for all African points of view.

With your help Volume Two will be a new addition to the panAFRICAproject book series that continues to use the power of photography to further explore complex ideas about Africa. After the success of our first Kickstarter campaign for Volume One, it became clear from many requests and inquiries that you, our supporters, wanted to see more volumes in the panAFRICAproject art book series. With the ongoing scope of the project, it was decided that releasing the countries covered in segments through a series of books would allow for a more in-depth look at the many important issues within each country. It is our hope that these volumes combined will be a comprehensive compendium of panAFRICAproject’s efforts so far and become collectible volumes that educate, create dialogue, and inspire new interest in Africa as a whole.
