It’s been a while since I’ve had a Q&A column and I keep getting questions form readers and always answer them directly, but there are some questions that happen often enough so that I have to publish these Q&A posts, like today’s…
Q: Why is there no “Comments” section on your blog?
A: I get this question often enough that I should create a FAQ page but my experience has been nobody every reads those so…There are several reasons I don’t have a comments section but the number one reason is there’s not enough time for me to moderate them as I’m busy writing and maintaining this blog and my car photography site/blog, which now includes a new video series. And then there is the time spent working with technical issues that occur with hosting, WordPress updates and the sometimes negative effects they produce. I’m just one guy but if you have a question or comment, that;s what the Contact page is for,
Q: Why don’t you write about rumors?
A: I don’t write about rumors because this is not a ‘rumors’ blog. There are plenty of these kinds of sites around the Web and most of the time the rumors they report are just as often wrong as they are right. We also don’t run manufacturer’s press releases and call it a blog post like some other sites either. It’s not much work to cut and paste and so I work to create original content that will inform and maybe inspire you to try something new. Yup, it’s harder to do this and it takes more time—see above question—but I think you’re worth it.
Q: I really like your vlogs and wish you did more of them. Have you ever considered having a YouTube channel?
A: When it come to YouTube my guiding star is Obi-Wan Kenobi, who once said “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” I think he was talking about YouTube. But seriously…
With the beginning of the the new video series “Joe & Cliff Got to Cars & Coffee” for my car photography blog I’ve re-started a YouTube Channel that has been languishing for nine years. There’s not that much content there right now and some of it is earlier stuff and technically those early videos are crap but as time presents itself—see question number 1 above—I want to improve the channel and Cliff and I are also working to improve the quality of the Cars & Coffee series too.
