Today’s Post by Joe Farace
“Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values.”— Thomas S. Monson
A few years ago during the holidays, Mary and I were walking around Parker Colorado’s O’Brien Park and taking pictures of the park’s gazebo that was decorated for Christmas.
While we were shooting these pictures a young couple (seen above) came up to us and asked us if we would take their photograph posing in front of the gazebo. They said they had just come from visiting one of their parents who was quite ill and in the hospital and wanted to give them a picture of the two of them outside the gazebo. Naturally we were glad to do it and the above is one of the several photographs that I made of them on that night. They asked if I would email them full sized JPEG files of the images so they could make prints for their mom and I did as soon as we went home.
The point of today’s post is that during these holidays, your photographs can be a gift for others, which just so happens to be the theme of tomorrow’s Christmas day post on this blog. I hope that you have time to read it, even if it’s after the holidays because I think the message is applicable any time during the year.
And so from Mary and I wish you the Merriest of Christmases.
