Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world. —George Bernard Shaw
People who know me or who are regular readers of this blog know that I’m not a fan of smartphone photography. These same people also know that, like many others, I own a smartphone and that sometimes make photographs with it, As my friend Barry Staver likes to say, “the best camera is the one you have with you”. While I might not have my Leica M6 with me all the time, chances are I will have my iPhone. All of which brings me to selfies, which as you can see in the image at right, my wife is a big fan. If you follow me on Instagram, you will see the occasional selfie Mary likes to make of the two of us.
My friend Mark Toal often posts on social media about his experiences making photographs with his iPhone. You can follow him on Instagram (@marktoal) and see for yourself. My friend Ralph Nelson produced an impressive coffee table book called Botanica, that’s filled with close up photographs of flowers that he made with an iPhone proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that it’s the photographer, not their tools that make the images.
I would guess that most people don’t take as good of care of their smartphone lens as they might of their cameras and their camera’s lenses often end up with smudges and smears too! It’s inevitable that a cell phone camera lens will pick up dust or fingerprints that can ruin a photo. That’s where a LensPen’s Smarty comes in handy.
Keep that Smartphone Lens Clean
The good news is that LensPen’s optical cleaning methodology is now available for smartphone photographers. The Smarty features LensPen’s proprietary carbon cleaning technology and is designed to safely remove dirt, dust and fingerprints from a smartphone’s camera lenses.
Like all LensPen tools, Smarty is easy to use. You just twist off the cap and gently clean the lens with its soft cleaning tip. If any smudges persist, breathe gently on the surface and repeat. When done, twist the cap back on and the cleaning tip is replenished and ready to use the next time you need it.
Smarty is just two-inches (5 cm) long and easily fits in a pocket or purse. The LensPen Smarty Smartphone Bundle includes both a Smarty and a LensPen smartphone card holder and it costs just $11.95.
Smarty, like all LensPen products, uses Black Carbon Technology to remove fingerprints, smudges, dust and grease from any optic or screen. These products have been tested on a wide variety of optics and are safe for use on all glass and high-end plastic. LensPen cleans in all kinds of environments from desert heat to Arctic cold. Each LensPen product provides hundreds of cleanings.
LensPen is a long-time sponsor of my sites and blogs but I was using their products long before I even had a blog. Mary bought me my first LensPen in 1994 after I acquired a Nikon N90s film-based SLR! I would like to thank LensPen for their continued support.
