As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot. — John Lennon

June 25 is a day when someone may want to hold your hand and ask you to please, please be true because they love you yeah, yeah, yeah. Global Beatles Day or GBD commemorates The Beatles music and their shake-up of the music world.

How Mary Made this Photography: Mary photographed me with these two Beatle look-a-likes in Florida at the Hard Rock Cafe during a PMA show press event back when photographic trade shows were a big deal. She photographed a younger, non-bearded me, using a Sony DSC-T9 point-and-shoot camera. The exposure was 1/60 sec at f/3.5 and ISO 200.

Beatles fan Faith Cohen created the holiday in 2009. She calls it “a thank you or love letter to The Beatles.” June 25 was picked as Global Beatles Day because on June 25, 1967 for the first time the Fab Four performed their song “All you need is love” on the BBC-produced program Our World.

It’s unlikely you don’t know who the Beatles are, but just in case, they were an English rock band from the 1960s. The rock quartet consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star.

The Beatles are considered one of the most influential bands of all time. They made their debut in the U.S. and took the country by storm with their unique sound of combining folk, rock, and sometimes trippy musical genres. They have sold over 600 million albums worldwide and is considered to be the highest ever selling musical group.
