Sexiness is all about your personality, being genuine and confident, and being a good person.—Erin Heatherton

If you’re interested in glamour photography you might want to follow Dita Von Teese (@ditavonteese) on Instagram because of the inspiration her images provide. On Mondays one of her Instagram fan sites publishes glamour portraits of her wearing corsets and that’s what inspired me to create #corsetmonday for this blog.

Once upon a time I tried to photograph every model wearing a corset in every shoot I did including lighting equipment reviews for the former print edition of Shutterbug. You may, or maybe not, be surprised to learn the editorial staff never permitted a single one of these photographs to appear in the magazine. Since they, wouldn’t let you see these images, I’ve tried to publish them during this series’s run. And how long will it run? I have posts scheduled through April but would like to keep if running throughout the entire year. If you’re interested in helping me achieve this goal, please read the boxed text at the bottom of this post.

Some of the models featured in this series may be under represented on this blog, while others, like today’s featured model—Pam Simpson— may be more familiar. You’ve seen her many, many times because I photographed her for perhaps the longest period of time of any model I’ve so far been lucky enough to work with.

There are many other images from some of these shoots that I would like to be able share with you but if I did on-line nanny software would block this site. This year, I’m hoping to create a totally uncensored glamour photography portfolio site that will let me feature those kinds of images, nanny software notwithstanding.

How I Made this Portrait: Unlike assignments for Shutterbug, where some of the images in the series were shot during session that were aimed at lighting equipment reviews, this portrait was made during a session specifically for Ms. Simpson’s portfolio and personal use. She likes to model for hair shows and would often show up with some new hair colors and styles as was the case in today’s featured image.

The lighting set-up for this shoot was simple. I placed a Godox QT600 monolight with a Westcott Apollo Strip softbox attached at camera right as the main and only light. Backdrop is a Savage 5 x 7-foot Infinity black vinyl background that was hung on my JTL background stands. The camera used was was an entry-level Olympus E-M10 Mark I with an Olympus M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 lens and an exposure of 1/125 sec and f/4.5 and ISO 200.

Special Note: I would like to keep this #corsetmonday series alive through 2023. To do that I’m looking for women that are interested in posing in corsets for photograph in this blog series. After signing a simple model release, they will receive their choice of a CD or flash drive containing all the approx 200 photographs we’ll make to take home the day of the shoot. The model will also receive full rights to use the images however they like. If you’re interested, click CONTACT and let’s talk.

If you enjoyed today’s blog post and would like to treat me to a cup of Earl Grey tea ($3.50), please click here. And if you do, thanks so much.
