Casting Female Models for On-Line Lifestyle Magazine

by | Jul 1, 2023

UPDATE: Even after my client updated and revised the scope of the projects referred to in this post —he doubled the hourly rates—he was unable to find what he considered suitable models. Instead he shifted his focus out-of-state and will be hiring models and photographers in Los Angeles and Miami..

Recently I wrote about being contacted by a former client I had worked with many years ago on a calendar project that was one of the best, most fun projects I ever photographed. And what’s not to like? Photographing beautiful, skimpily clad models in a firetruck factory.

Last week I had lunch with the client to discuss his plans for an on-line lifestyle magazine that will be aimed at firefighters. In addition to covering products and services that firefighters would find useful in their work, it would also cover products for their personal lives—lifestyle, if you will. Also included on the site will be photographs of young women that I will be responsible for contributing. The calendar project will live on and will be linked to the model’s photographs feature on the site and I may get to photographs some of the calendar models. To get the site launched and functioning, models are needed for the initial issue as well as all the others to follow, so that’s why we are…

Casting Models for the Site

Models Wanted: My client is looking for female models from ages 21 to 32 to pose for paid shoots that will be used for an on-line lifestyle magazine. No modeling experience is necessary.

The first part of the assignment will be a two-hour test shoot in my home studio in Colorado and models will be paid $50/hour. This shoot will consist of the model wearing a mix of sexy outfits from dresses to lingerie.

The second part of the shoot will consist of a two-four hour on-location outdoor shoot, during the day or night, in a sexy evening dress; high heels or a daytime in-park shoot wearing a sundress and hat, heels. For this shoot the models will be paid $100/hour. During these shoots, I’m going to stretching my wings trying new lenses and different lighting and posing techniques. (I’ll try to show off some outtakes—the client gets the good stuff— in posts here from time to time.)

The third part of the assignment will be a two to three (or more) hour in-studio shoot with the model wearing lingerie (no nudes) that will pay $100/hour or higher, according to my client, depending on the model.

The model will also be presented with the opportunity to appear at a trade show booth for the client’s company for a fee that will be discussed between them and the client.
