Late in his life Richard Strauss was constantly being approached by adoring fans asking, “what is the story behind this music?” His reply was, “It’s just a piece of music.” Or, as Freud once noted, “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”

Since you are the final arbiter of what’s “correct” the Exposure Compensation feature lets you increase or decrease the automatic exposure in one-half or one-third tops to get exactly the exposure you like. Using the camera’s LCD screen and histogram function will help you home in on what’s correct.

Garden of the Gods is a public park (free admittance) that’s located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1971. I recently visited with my friend Mark Toal and we shot many of the images, (including the below photograph) in digital Infrared.
