Scott Fitzgerald once told Ernest Hemingway, “rich people are different from the rest of us.” “Yeah, Hemingway replied, “they have more money.”

You can find all kinds of interesting stuff on the Internet. For instance, I recently found an interview with a photographer whose work I’ve admired for years but when it comes to the topic of Auto Review and Chimping, he doesn’t like it.

I’m not sure that I was all that young in 1981 when I took Horace Greeley’s advice and moved to Colorado. When I first came here, I was impressed not just by the Rocky Mountains but also by several of the towns and cities that surround Denver.

Regular readers know that I’m a movie fan and that many times motion pictures are the inspiration for some of my still photography. Even before the very first Godzilla movie premiered in 1954, I was a fan of monster movies and special effects films starting with the original King Kong.

Over the years I’ve seen many great photographer’s businesses fail not because will they weren’t skilled image maker, but because they didn’t have any business sense. Similarly, I’ve seen more than a few mildly talented photographers become huge successes because they know how to sell themselves and their work.
