I photographed this area outside a tea house in Japan where a group of us had just had a delightful dinner. The camera used was a Canon Digital Rebel and an EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens (at 18mm) with an exposure of 0.3 sec at f/3.5 and ISO 1600 and a minus two-thirds stop exposure compensation.

I’ve often written about my self-assignment to photograph barns all across the state of Colorado and while I haven’t done much of that lately—the weather this month has been cold and snow, more than normal— I still enjoy photographing farms, especially in black and white.

It was a beautiful spring day in December when Mary and I drove down to Castle Rock, one of my favorite small towns in the state. I brought along my new CLA’d Seagull TLR and a roll of CineStill XX, 200 ISO black & white film. Also along for the Photo Walk was a Gossen Luna Star light meter.
